Born in 1933
Study of chemistry, Technical University of Stuttgart; scholarship of the Study Foundation of the German Nation;
Diploma (physical organic chemistry) in 1959, Dr.rer.nat. (organic chemistry) in 1961, Stuttgart.
From 1962 Research Chemist, Bayer AG;
From 1972 Department of Animal Health (Bayer AG), Manager regulatory affairs and development;
Member and Chairman of several scientific committees and working parties, e.g. German Pharmaceutical Association, European Federation of Animal Health.
From 1982 Department Head Preclinical R&D and Registration – Selection,planning, supervision of studies in pharmacology, toxicology, metabolism, residues; bacteriology.

Adviser to the German Government’s Delegation to the (U.N.)Codex Alimentarius Committee on Residues of Veterinary Drugs in Food (CCRVDF, Washington D.C., from 1987).
Assistance to the Foundation of the Federation of Worldwide Animal Health Industries (COMISA, Brussels, 1991); member of the Board of Directors.
From 1994 President of COMISA; Chairman of the COMISA delegation to the CCRVDF.

1997 Retirement.

Personal interests:

  • Safety issues in human and veterinary drug development.
  • Ethical problems of new Life Science technologies (Member of the Ethics Committee of the German Agricultural Union).
  • Chairman of a local ambulant hospice initiative (from 2004).

Membership:

  • German Chemist’s Association (GdCh);
  • German Association of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (GBM);
  • German Working Group on Xenotransplantation.
